Likewise, it has a laxative effect and, therefore, fights constipation. It also helps in cases of liver disorders such as jaundice, fatty liver, etc. Its effects depend largely on the dose administered.

It is considered an ally against cancer. Rhubarb is a good source of beta-carotene and other polyphenolic compounds such as lutein and zeaxanthin, which act similarly to vitamin A, protecting the skin and eyes from the effects of free radicals; main cancer-causing agents.
