The benefits of massage

When we talk about the benefits of massage we must be aware that each manual technique or type of treatment brings with it different types of effects on us and on our body.

However, there are some beneficial effects that can be shared, if not all, with the majority of massage techniques present today and are mainly due to the type of touch and pressure exerted on specific areas.

Healthier and radiant skin
Let's start the list by making all the women and girls who read us happy: a massage improves your skin in terms of brightness and beauty.

With a massage we get the elimination of dead cells, the stimulation of the pores with a consequent better absorption of the nutrients contained in the products used, greater elasticity and relaxation of the skin itself.

A clear gain in terms of beauty and prevention.

Relaxation
Surely the first sensation that comes to mind when you hear about massage is relaxation: relaxing has become a sort of privilege in our society and I am convinced that many do not even remember what it means.

Each type of massage is able to relax any type of personality, just knowing how to perform the maneuvers and the points to be treated.

Loosening muscle tension
It is probably the most evident and most known effect by everyone: massaging the muscles loosens the tensions, muscle contractures and trigger points that are created and accumulated during the day or during an intense workout.

This new level of relaxation and ease brings inevitable benefits also at the bone and joint level: greater elasticity, amplitude and ease of movement with a consequent greater ability to use one's physical means.

Lymphatic stimulation
During a treatment that involves contact with the skin we have a consequent movement of liquids.

This brings several advantages in terms of elimination by the kidneys of toxins and waste that accumulate in the body in case of lymphatic stagnation or malfunction of the system itself.

As a result we get a clear improvement in the immune system, but also an important aesthetic effect: the stagnation of the circulation in any form occurs, it creates fertile ground for the unsightly pads so hated by women.

Also in terms of cellulite, we thus achieve decisive improvements thanks to the increase in microcirculation, but this regenerating effect is able to counteract inflammation and edema.

Cardio-circulatory system functioning

In addition to lymphatic movement, blood also can benefit from a nice massage: in fact, during a manual treatment it is possible to improve the quantity, but also the quality of the blood flowing in the veins and arteries.

The increase in blood flow, together with the decrease in pressure on the blood vessels are an important help for the heart: when the arteries dilate and the heart rate decreases, our heart muscle is strengthened.

A better blood flow guarantees the right nourishment to all the tissues and organs of our body ensuring a high degree of well-being, health and prevention.

In addition, a therapeutic massage, by increasing the level of capillary dilation, can lower blood pressure.

Stress reduction

We assume that stress involves muscle tension and that this tension can cause the blockage of our state of well-being.

In fact, we must always consider that our muscular system constitutes a high priority system and therefore when it is activated it dominates the other systems such as those responsible for proprioception and sensations, but also for attention and mental abilities which, therefore, they find themselves in a locked state.

This happens because the muscular one, as we said, is a system with a higher priority for survival given the known fight or flight response.

So by eliminating these tensions, our whole body will benefit, thus being able to return to balance in all its parts and favoring the correct functioning and unlocking of the other apparatuses, previously precisely blocked by tensions.

In addition, I report a curiosity: the brain is in close embryological connection with the skin (they derive from the same embryonic leaflet); therefore always remember that when we massage the skin we massage, in a certain sense, the mind too!

During a proper massage, the mind enters states of deep relaxation, awakening and actually promoting all those internal self-healing processes.

Finally, our body naturally produces many wellness substances, such as the most famous endorphins, which are very useful in preventing depression

breathing

Even speaking in terms of the respiratory system we find improvements: the greater state of relaxation, the lesser degree of anxiety that brings with it the massage and the possible treatment of the intercostal muscles and the diaphragm, make breathing easier with all the advantages in terms of greater and better oxygenation of blood and tissues.

Elimination of emotional and energetic blockages

Studies conducted mainly by Alexander Lowen show us how the mind is intrinsically connected to the body and how chronic contractions can occur in the body following the freezing of certain emotions,

The rigidity of the emotional state therefore has repercussions in chronic muscle tension and related energy blockages: through massage it is possible to get rid of it and thus be able to give freedom to everyone's blocked emotions.

Speaking of energy, we must note that according to energy medicine, our body is crossed by energy channels, which in turn are responsible for the correct functioning of certain parts of the body: a wise masseur can restore harmony and balance in the person's energy flow.

Improvement of digestion and peristalsis

Other apparatuses in our body can also benefit, such as the digestive system.

Without resorting to targeted foot reflexology massages, the greater flow of blood, greater freedom of movement at the connective level and reflex stimulations are a great help to improve the stages of digestion, even in the case of gastritis.

In addition to the stomach and perhaps even more evidently, the intestine also benefits in this way, thanks to the greater stimulation of peristalsis due to massage, thus improving cases of chronic constipation.

Massage is a panacea for everyone

Massage is a panacea for everyone, especially in the period in which we live, in fighting stress and improving the general functionality of our body.

The factors that influence the results after a massage are many, ranging from the skill of the masseur to the psycho-physical state of the recipient, passing through the various massage techniques used (it is possible to massage the muscle, but we must know that neurolymphatic points can also be massaged or energy meridians, just to give examples, obtaining different effects on the body based on the techniques used).

There are no age, sex or race limits to obtain the benefits listed above, everyone can have their own slice of health and, last but not least, massage is a pampering for everyone, which brings with it a new state of well-being .

Besides, who doesn't like to be caressed and pampered?
